Microsoft 365 Pricing and Packaging Updates: What’s Changing and How to Prepare

Featured image

Microsoft is raising prices on most Microsoft 365 commercial plans by as much as 33 percent, with the new rates taking effect July 1, 2026. If your business runs on Microsoft 365, the size of the impact comes down to one thing: when your subscription renews.

At DDSystems, we are helping clients get ahead of this change by reviewing their licensing, timing their renewals, and making sure they are getting full value from the plans they already pay for. Here is what is changing, what the new pricing looks like, and the steps worth taking before your next renewal.

The bottom line

Microsoft 365 prices are rising across most Enterprise, Business, and Frontline plans as of July 1, 2026, with increases ranging from about 5 percent to as much as 33 percent depending on the plan. Existing customers stay on their current pricing until renewal, and many plans are gaining new security and Copilot features at the same time. Your renewal date is the number that matters most, so it is worth reviewing before your term ends.

What is changing

Microsoft has announced a global price and packaging update covering the Microsoft 365 Enterprise, Business, and Frontline suites, along with several standalone components. The new pricing takes effect July 1, 2026, and the packaging changes began rolling out in June 2026.

The size of the increase varies by plan. Most Enterprise suites are going up 5 to 14 percent, Business Basic and Standard jump 12 to 16 percent, and Frontline plans (F1 and F3) see the largest hikes at 25 to 33 percent, reaching up to 43 percent on the “no Teams” variants. Standalone Microsoft Teams and Copilot SKUs are not part of this update.

One important detail: existing customers remain on their current pricing until renewal. That means the real impact on your organization depends entirely on when your subscription term ends.

Your renewal date is now your most important budget number. Knowing when to act, and what to act on, is where the savings live.

What the new pricing looks like

Here are a few common plans and how their per-user, per-month pricing changes under the update:

It is not just price: plans are getting new capabilities

Alongside the price changes, Microsoft is bundling additional features into many suites. Some of the highlights include:

  • Business Basic and Standard: an additional 50 GB of mailbox storage and Copilot Chat enhancements.
  • Office 365 E3: adds Microsoft Defender for Office Plan 1 and Copilot Chat enhancements.
  • Microsoft 365 E3: adds Defender for Office P1, Intune Remote Help, Intune Advanced Analytics, and Intune Plan 2.
  • Microsoft 365 E5: everything in E3, plus Security Copilot, Intune Endpoint Privilege Management, Microsoft Cloud PKI, and Intune Enterprise Application Management.

For many organizations, these additions are a meaningful upgrade. Your Account Manager can help you understand which features fit your environment and how they work alongside the tools you already rely on.

Three steps to take before your next renewal

1. Review your renewal timeline

Connect with your Account Manager ahead of renewal to review the upcoming changes, evaluate your current environment, and plan strategically for the next term.

2. Audit users and licensing

Work with our team to review user activity, licensing alignment, and overall utilization, so your organization is getting the most value from your investment.

3. Explore new features and opportunities

Microsoft continues to introduce new capabilities across its platform. Meet with your Account Manager to discuss what is included, identify opportunities to improve productivity and security, and determine how your existing third-party solutions complement your stack.

The bottom line: more value, more opportunity

Microsoft continues to expand the capabilities included within its licensing plans, introducing new tools and features across security, management, collaboration, and productivity. As these platforms evolve, it becomes increasingly important to evaluate how new functionality fits within your existing environment and broader technology strategy.

Renewal time is an ideal opportunity to meet with your Account Manager, review your current licensing, discuss the upcoming changes, and identify ways to maximize the value of your Microsoft investment while keeping everything aligned with your existing third-party solutions and business goals.

Final word

Find your renewal date and start the conversation early. A short review of your licensing before your term ends is the best way to control costs, take advantage of the new features you are now paying for, and avoid surprises when the new pricing takes effect.
